Abakhus: a Cross-Chain secret dApp for sensitive health data #118

High level description of the project

Abakhus dApp (https://abakhus.io) is a privacy-preserving tokenization platform deployed exclusively on Secret Network mainnet and focused on health and biomedical data. Main target audience is the healthcare market, namely clinical laboratories and hospitals that generate billions of electronic health records annually and that require privacy and cybersecurity. Abakhus development was initially funded by a Secret Network Ecosystem Grant in January 2022 and developed by the team of programmers from the Brazilian startup Lumeeira (https://lumeeira.io), this being its first product. Lumeeira presented Abakhus dApp in several large blockchain and innovation events in 2022 and 2023, namely: Blockchain Rio Festival 2022 & 2023, NFT.Rio 2022, Blockchain São Paulo Festival 2023, Web Summit Rio 2023, Rio Innovation Week 2023.

Problem / solution

Abakhus went live on Secret Network mainnet on November 27th 2023, as a beta version and while it is a really functional version some improvements are still needed for a wider adoption. Main Abakhus target audience are hospitals and clinical laboratories (non-regular blockchain users) then the vast majority of them have never used a digital wallet, especially Keplr, yet even Metamask regular users (>30 million active users) show some resistance to install and use Keplr wallet (Keplr has <1 million active users), so we consider this a barrier for Abakhus wider adoption. To mitigate this barrier and facilitate wider adoption we propose the development of a user-friendly Cross-Chain Abakhus version involving the following 3 solutions (i) to add Metamask integration and also multichain Account Abstraction, (ii) to improve Abakhus UI/UX design with the input of early adopters: organizations as clinical labs and hospitals (permissioned features) and individuals (permissionless features), and finally (iii) to develop an Abakhus mobile version for iOS and Android aiming to facilitate the adoption by end users to tokenize, visualize, share and burn their health records.

Detailed product / network improvement description

(i) Metamask (only signing) and multichain Account Abstraction integration using Secret Network Wallet Support (secret.js) and obi.money technology, respectively. (ii) UI/UX will be improved using React and the input of early adopters: clinical labs, hospitals (organizations generating official health records and tokenizing those using Abakhus permissiones features and SNIP-721 private contracts) and individuals interested to tokenize their health records previously generated in web2 by clinical labs and hospitals (using Abakhus permissionless features and SNIP-722 private contracts). Plugins for batch tokenization and HL7 (international standard) formatted health records will be developed for clinical labs and hospitals), also, plugins to facilitate the download and tokenization of web2 health records will be developed and made available for individuals; finally (iii) Abakhus mobile version for iOS and Android to be developed using React native.

Go-to-market and commercialization plan

(i) The first health records to be tokenized using Abakhus will be the ones from the Brazilian clinical laboratory and Vaccination Center called Genolab (https://genolab.com.br), it is our strategic partner and already agreed with that. (ii) More clinical labs and hospitals will follow and are expected to be much easier to onboard with the Abakhus improvements being proposed in this grant. Several organizations (e.g. Brazilian clinical labs and hospitals) will be invited to test Abakhus as early adopters, and individuals will be also invited to tokenize their previously generated health records as early adopters. (iii) Participation and eventually support Brazilian and International events related to digital health, healthcare cybersecurity and data protection, clinical laboratories and hospitals aming to showcase Abakhus and onboard users. Abakhus monetization will be in the form of fees per mint. No token/cryptocurrency launch is planned inmediatly since we prefer Abakhus to be Cross-Chain and use any already available token/cryptocurrency, as well as the DREX token (Brazilian Digital Real: https://www.bcb.gov.br/en/financialstability/drex_en) to be launched Q1 2024 by the Brazilian government.

Milestones and budget

Milestone 1

Metamask and Fina Cash wallets integration - Month 1 Abakhus front-end improvement with Metamask and Fina integration - Month 1 Account abstraction design - Month 1 Budget: SCRT 25.500 (SCRT tokens worth $10.000)

Milestone 2

Account abstraction initial implementation - Month 2 API development for batch tokenization of health records - Month 2 API development for HL7 standard health records tokenization - Month 2 Abakhus front-end improvement with account abstraction, batch tokenization and HL7 standard - Month 2 Abakhus mobile version design - Month 2 Budget: SCRT 25.500 (SCRT tokens worth $10.000)

Milestone 3

Account abstraction final implementation - Month 3 1 partner organization (clinical lab, hospital, genomics or biotechnology service) onboarded to test Abakhus - Month 3 Call for potential early adopters: organizations (clinical labs and hospitals) and individuals (end-users) - Month 3 Abakhus mobile version (features [i] listing tokens [ii] showing public and private metadata) development - Month 3 Participation and Abakhus showcase in Web Summit Rio 2024 (April 2024) Budget: SCRT 25.500 (SCRT tokens worth $10.000)

Milestone 4

Abakhus mobile version (features: [i] transfer [ii] burn, [iii] token history and [iv] token listing in Bazaar) development - Month 4 A total of 2 partners organizations (clinical lab, hospital, genomics or biotechnology service) onboarded to test Abakhus - Month 4

Budget: SCRT 37.750 (SCRT tokens worth $15.000)

Milestone 5

Smart-contracts and dApp code auditing - Month 5 A total of 3 partners organizations (clinical lab, hospital, genomics or biotechnology service) onboarded to test Abakhus - Month 5 2 short videos (~2 min duration each) explaining Abakhus tokenization features for organizations - Month 5 Budget: SCRT 25.500 (SCRT tokens worth $10.000)

Milestone 6

Cross-chain Abakhus version launched on Secret Network Mainnet as Beta version - Month 6 A total of 4 partners organizations (clinical lab, hospital, genomics or biotechnology service) onboarded to test Abakhus - Month 6 2 short videos (~2 min duration each) explaining Abakhus tokenization features for individuals - Month 6 Budget: SCRT 12.750 (SCRT tokens worth $5.000)

The project development is distributed in 6-months or 2 quarters, and the total amount requested to achieve the 6 proposed milestones is SCRT 153.000 or $60.000 (considering SCRT market price: $0.392). Milestones are centered on development and go-to-the market activities. We really prefer to receive the amount of SCRT tokens equivalent to dollar/fiat requested per milestone, that way we could receive less SCRT tokens if market price is high and more SCRT tokens if market price is low, then project development is not jeopardized by market price variation. Budget to be used to hire 3 devs to (i) develop account abstraction, (ii) upgrade the Abakhus front-end, (iii) develop the Abakhus mobile version, (iv) to pay for smart-contracts and code auditing service before going mainnet and (v) several go-to-the-market activities: participation in relevant/related events, Abakhus awareness and onboarding clinical labs and hospitals. Storage, Canva and ChatGPT monthly services will be also paid with the Grant during the 6-months of the project, aiming to accelerate the front-end improvements as well as generate ads and videos to promote the cross-chain Abakhus version being developed.

Hi @YonatanE22, @azaidelson and @ertemann. @rodrigojardim and I just updated our Grant proposal. We think milestones involving development (including account abstraction) and go-to-the-market activities makes a much better proposal
