ΞNUM enables Signal and Telegram users to securely and privately message each other using their Web3 NFT address, replacing insecure phone numbers. ΞNUM will be the first Web3-native, decentralized mobile communications platform that is owned and operated by members
A key feature of the solution relies on Secret’s privacy. The plan includes being able to mint public messaging NFTs, for businesses or general communication on multiple public chains, and private numbers, for friends and family. These private numbers will be minted on the Secret Network.
Problem / solution
Problem:
Web3 users don’t have an easy and secure way to message each other using their NFT, Blockchain Names (like ENS on Ethereum), or blockchain wallet address. Instead, we rely on apps like Signal or Telegram to communicate, even though they’re not Web3 native and rely on outdated and insecure phone numbers. With problems like SIM-jacking, SMS spam and scam calls, phone numbers aren’t safe to use for secure and private messaging.
Solution:
Over 540 million users trust Signal and Telegram as their private, end-to-end encrypted messaging platform despite using insecure phone numbers as their communication end-points. ΞNUM replaces these insecure phone numbers with a novel messaging NFT, that still functions as a valid phone number, and serves as a trusted identifier for Web3 users to securely and conveniently message one another.
A. Signal/Telegram Messaging with NFT as phone number
ΞNUM’s foundational invention is the ability to generate an E.164 compatible phone number as a user owned NFT. This allows users to replace their phone numbers with their ΞNUM NFTs. Further down the roadmap users will be able to “bridge” to traditional telco environments, so you can use your NFT to text… your mom.
People will be able to mint both public and private numbers. Public numbers will be minted on public blockchains and private numbers will be minted on Secret.
This NFT acts as an endpoint for Telegram and Signal that allows Web3 users to directly contact each other via their NFT/wallet addresses.
B. ΞNUM NFT
NFT is based on unique token ID and owner public key
Your NFT is your avatar
You can mint as many ΞNUM NFTs as you like
Works for voice and text messaging
Safely send money to someone’s phone
Go-to-market and commercialization plan
A. ΞNUM NFT mints
In the first phase we’re offering existing blockchain and NFT communities the opportunity for exclusive mints, i.e. ENS and Secret.
After that we will offer NFT minting to anyone at consumer adoption pricing to build our user base.
B. ΞNUMDAO
We are just starting to build the ΞNUM community around our quest to bring the benefits of Web3 to the world. The SecretDAO onboarding and mission process is an inspiration for how we roll out our process in the next two months.
DAO members will vote on which communities to partner with.
When we launch the ΞNUM decentralized messaging protocol, the DAO will be the hub for relayers, validators and users.
In this phase, ΞNUMDAO includes governance, token allocation, bounties, etc.
Secret Network Value Capture
A secure and private communication Web3 end-point built on Secret Network will drive network usage growth as well as user acquisition. Using Secret Network, “Secret ENUM” NFTs will be the communications end-point of choice for all users who value privacy, censorship resistance and decentralization.
Beyond more users and transactions, there will be specific metrics that will benefit Secret’s network.
NFT utility differentiation — one of the glaring issues with NFTs is that they do not have wide ranging utility. With private communication NFTs, Secret will stand above every other chain, acting as the privacy NFT Schelling point for the Web3 community.
Using ENUM NFTs as a messenger end-point gives your wallet address even more functionality.
