Following up for Emby support. I know it is low prioity, but Im moving away from Plex. Emby support would be nice.

Draxter commented 3 years ago

+1 to this. Plex is unsafe in a way that you authenticate to your own server via Plex Inc's servers. Considering the nature of what it does, this is very unsafe in case if they ever get hacked or raided by authorities. Many users switched to Emby for that reason.

jaycedk commented 3 years ago

Hopefully this will happen some day :)

don't know why this was marked as off topic because it's a valid reason. I wrote the initial code for Jellyfin support but I haven't been updating it, and I'm going to rewrite it for the beta build of Overseerr.

We mark +1 comments as off-topic when they do not add anything constructive, to avoid cluttering the issue comments. The proper way to upvote an issue is to react to it with a "thumbs up."

I would hold off on re-implementing Jellyfin support for now. As mentioned previously, there are other changes that need to come first. Feel free to reach out on Discord if you want to chat about it.

With the Plex venture capital funding working towards and moving to first party streaming services, I would think implementing a Emby support is even more important. Please add Emby support. Thank you.

Possibility to create a fork and replace globality of plex api to emby api ?

berot3 commented 2 years ago

I hope "someday" will be sooner than later. How about we all show our support and sponsor them? :)

Is there a reason this isn't getting done?

Is there a reason this isn't getting done?

I am curious myself. I’d love to see this made compatible with Emby!

postboy99 commented 2 years ago

We need this!

Had a quick chat with @danshilm on Discord. Here's the deal:

Comments that aren't constructive are being hidden to avoid clutter, especially +1's. If you want to show your support, add a thumbs up to the top comment. Seems like there is some collateral damage here in hiding comments, including the one saying don't comment +1's, but you can always head to Discord to chat with the team.

Implementing support for other media servers requires completely decoupling overseerr's dependency on plex. Right now, plex is required to even get overseerr up and running, since overseerr uses the plex admin account as its own admin account (among other things). Removing this dependency is a significant undertaking that would require a lot of communication with the core devs. That level of communication hasn't been present in past attempts to add emby/jellyfin.

There you have it. If you want to help work on this, go chat with the team on Discord!

There is a fork that supports Jellyfin here

you hide comments to discourage discussion, then want to close issues for being stale?

adyanth commented 2 years ago

Is Jellyseerr a good fit?

SurvivaLlama commented 2 years ago

Is Jellyseerr a good fit?

It is. This FR can be closed.

adyanth commented 2 years ago

Does that mean there is no plans to bring it in to Overseer itself?

PS: what's with the comment has been minimised for valid comment?

J0n4e commented 2 years ago

+1, i would like to see emby suport in overseer too, plex is getting worser every day, almost unusable..

jaycedk commented 2 years ago

There is an Fork called jellyseer, which now support jellyfin and emby.

Just a small update. We are currently in the process of unlinking Plex as a requirement to setup/use Overseerr. This will open the floodgates for other media server integrations. See #3015

debugged-tech commented 1 year ago

Any update on this?

Is it possible to merge Jellyseerr into Overseerr since Jellyseerr has the missing Emby and Jellyfin support? Then there won't be a need for a fork.

Quack6765 commented 7 months ago

Any updates regarding adding Emby support ?

Hey just use Jellyseer since Emby is natively supported on there (well maintained like Overseerr). It's literally a fork with Jellyfin and Emby support. Also, new features!

I'm aware of Jellyseerr. The issue is that I've been using Overseerr for some time now and since there is no migration script I'm not looking to start all over again. Especially if the talk to merge Jellyseerr into Overseer happens since it would mean I'd need to redo the whole procedure once again to come back to Overseerr.

sgtcoder commented 7 months ago

Can't you just install Jellyseerr and use the previous data?

I don't think you lose much. Even if you did, you connect it and let it sync.
