RESTORE boundary extent (orphan-like polys) #15

Elena Crowley-Ornelas loaded SCW's huc12 extent of our study area into ArcGIS can I watched her insert line segments at near top (north) of Mississippi River and at the bottom (south) of the Mississippi River to join the two major east and west polygons. She then dissolved the resulting Mississippi River alluvial plain poly so created to leave me with one single polygon extent.

However, close inspection in R (actually already had learned this), sees 8 orphan-like polys, which yields problems in the event that we do use a soap film smoother or other. Below is a screen shot of R plotting a circle at the label point of each of the 8 polys. I deleted these in low-level R and rebuilt a single polygon object as restore_mgcv_bnd (shapefile) and spRESTORE_MGCV_BND.RData as the library(sp) object.
