Integrate with external forum

Context

People are used to read/write comments on content they like. Since HuGo is static in nature, this type of dynamic content needs to be added in by integrating with an external service.

Implementation

• Connect to an external discourse server
  • Use update/delete/write-access token on deployment (token stored as github secret)
  • Deploy HuGo site with read-only key (can be intercepted)
• On deployment: create new thread with Concept/Pattern description in a specific board (based on category)
  • Each content item will require a UUID in order to set up a semi-permanent link and avoid name-based inconsistencies
• From live site: implement a visual component that connects to the forum API and fetches comments
  • Make it clear in the forum that all comments on the thread will be publicly visible.

Consequences

• No need for hosted database linked to knowledge base, delegate account creation and comment storage to external service.
• People who do not wish dynamic content (disabled javascript) will not see the comments.
• Users will need to create an account on said message board in order to write comments/reviews.
