This issue is under consideration for the SDMX-TWG work programme
Hi Sami, the need for shareable and practical mappings in SDMX is growing, this can be added to the use cases: In the global DSD groups the IOs are proposing to reduce the burden on current data providers when compatibility is broken by providing Structure Sets to map between artefact versions. So, the DSD Maintenance Agency (usually an IO) makes the DSD change and provides the Structure Set in the SDMX registry. Data providers can optionally either provide data using the old version, or use the mapping to provide data in the new version, rather than everyone having to do their own mapping. Cheers, David
As of SDMX 3.0, all of maps of a 2.1 StructureSet
have become MantainableArtefacts and may be reused by reference.
SDMX 3.0 includes the following mapping Artefacts:
Allow for many to one and many to many mappings.
Enable code list maps that can be cross-referenced between different dataset mappings.
More details attached.
