These updates are intended to help compatibility with other Julia versions going forward, make the style of indentation more consistent, clean up some unnecessary dependencies and code paths, and (hopefully) improve efficiency in some minor ways. If any of this is not to your liking, it'd be happy to take it out or make modifications as appropriate.
