Fix consistency, spelling, and grammatical errors #97

Only minor changes that will almost certainly not change the meaning of sentences were made. This PR was made in collaboration with #98 to minimise the chance of making overlapping changes.

Changes made to diagrams (since binary files cannot be viewed in the diff):

For changes to diagrams, the source Powerpoint file was edited. Then, the image was recreated using the exact same dimensions and transparent background by copying the Powerpoint shape elements into GIMP and exporting.

Note: creating this as a draft PR so that I can add comments as documentation of certain changes as I go along.

Resolves #102.

Hi Prof @damithc, the PR is ready! Let me know if there are any changes to be made. @zhaojj2209 and I coordinated on both #97 and #98, so our changes should be mutually exclusive.

Great. A big thank you to both of you @ianyong and @zhaojj2209 for this very useful and non-trivial contribution. Will look-through and merge in due course (after the exam rush is over).
