I had an error when using my external drive because exfat doesn't preserve folder permissions, I wrote a quick fix that helped me

@Ap0them : So dreadfully sorry... this has been sitting here for almost 3 months, and I just saw it today :/ This is actually the first pull request I've received - but I am certain many more are needed! Anyway - I'm going to click the "Merge pull request" button, but I may reach out shortly to ask you a question about this.

I'd be happy to answer what I can, I think the problem might also be the same when using NTFS but I don't use that format so I'm not 100%
