Tethering to another android #1017

Having bought an Android tablet without 3g support and hoping to rely on my HTC
Hero for 3G-to-Wifi support, I am starting to think I have made a mistake.

Apparently, Android does not see adhoc networks. Are there alternative ways to
tether internet to another Android device? Via Bluetooth or USB? I tried
tinkering with the first, paired my devices, but all I got was "paired but not
connected".

I run Elelinux 7.0.0 on the phone and Honeycomb 3.0.1 on the tablet. Phone
rooted, tablet not yet (I'll do it if necessary). Are there other droid mods
for the phone, to solve the problem?

Judging by the amount of desperate posts, this issue is of relevance to many.
Thanks!

Gecka, I've managed to solve the problem by now. I run the wifi tether in
bluetooth mode.

See this thread on XDA for more info:

Post there if you need help. Cheers.
