htc desire wont work with ipad #1027

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
HTC desire
Which firmware is installed?
2.1
What version of wireless tether are you using?
3.1 beta

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install and open wireless tether 3.1 beta
2. Start tether
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected for my iPad 2 to connect and internet work. Instead, the wifi 
firmware and softtap fails.

Please provide any additional information below.
Phone is rooted. I cleared SD card and rooted my phone. I can connect my iPad 
to the adhoc, but I don't get internet access.

Oh. 3.1 beta will most likely not work with 3.1-beta1. It requires android 2.2 
or higher for HTC-softap.

You could try ...

I deleted the beta and tried the one you linked. I started the tether and
connected my laptop to it. I still dont get internet access. No errors show.
The download traffic is 0.4 kb and upload is 0.1 kb. I don't understand why
its not working.

Just curious, does the Ipad work in adhoc mode? I keep thinking it doesn't. 
Likewise, can you see if the ipad is resolving DHCP address or is it a 169 
address?
