LG Revolution - Won't tether without MSS Clamping #1070

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Which device (manufacturer, type)? LG Revolution

Which firmware is installed? 2.2.2

What version of wireless tether are you using? 3.1 beta2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. enabling / disabling MSS clamping
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Timing out website and IM blocking

Please provide any additional information below.
When MSS Clamping is enabled it works decently, but will not pingtest.net
because it's unable to process the packet loss test. When MSS clamping is
disabled it does something very strange - It will connect to the computer and
my wifi card recognizes it and connects with no problem. It shows full
connection bar in my system tray (win7 64) so it's successfully connected to
the phone and the network, but It will not transfer any data. Websites time out
and AIM will block any inbound or outbound data like some kind of firewall. The
throughput meters on the wifi app show no throughput. It all seems to be
directly related to MSS Clamping being enabled in order for it to work.

Could you please test 3.1 beta3. There are some changes regarding the mss
clamping stuff.

Thanks.

I tested a lot of combos and finally got the revolution to work in
infrastructure mode and connect to all websites. I used 3.1 beta6. I changed
the device profile to LG Optimus S and enabled MSS clamping. restarted. It now
recognizes infrastructure mode and accesses all web sites.

I ran my LG Revo on 2.2.2 with "LG Optimus S" & MSS Clamping too. I just upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.4, re-rooted, and now MSS Clamping is missing and I can't connect to website, however, ping requests from a wifi attached PC does respond correctly.

Any iedas?

See Thread 1368
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=1368 MSS
Clamping has been removed from Gingerbread, so you have to go back to Froyo, or
you can alter the MTU on devices attached to your Revo Gingerbread, drop them
down to MTU 1428.

I too am looking for Gingerbread with MSS Clamping included in the Kernel, no
luck yet.
