T-Mobile G2 - Tethering Won't Initiate, Log File does not exist #643

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
HTC / T-Mobile G2

Which firmware is installed?
2.2
Kernel: 2.6.32.17-g814e0a1 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1

What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0.5 Pre-11

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Obtain Temp-root privileges (I used this method which works for Titanium
Backup and drocap2, both of which require root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797042 )

2. Install Wifi Tether (Used Pre-11 release)

3. Launch and initiate tethering.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the Superuser app request permissions for wifi tether. This
does not happen. Instead, the app says that: Tethering started with errors.
Please check "show log."

When I check "Show Log" it says that the log-File does not exist.
Enabling/disabling access control also typically requires root, but does not
prompt me for permissions.

Please provide any additional information below.

Based on my limited knowledge on the subject, I believe it's simply that the
app is somehow not recognizing or utilizing this temp-root method properly.
since no indications suggest the app is requesting root. (I've checked the
Superuser app and Titanium and DroCap2 show up, but not Wireless Tether.)

I'm submitting a copy of the aLogCat file cleared before and after launching
Wireless tether.

Same issue on my friends G2. She got a message that said "phone in unknown
state". We used the root method here -
http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile-g2-g2-modaco-com/320350/15-oct-r3-vis
ionary-one-click-temproot-for-g2/

The normal Wireless Tether for Root Users didn't even show in the Market on the
rooted G2.
