Enable Tethering with USB Attached #665

Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Vibrant

Which firmware is installed? 2.1update1

What version of wireless tether are you using? 2.0.5pre11

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect your phone to your computer via USB. You don't need to put the phone
into any particular USB mode (just connect it).
2. Try to start wifi tether

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect tethering to be fully functional. Instead I get "unknown state...
reboot". The only way tethering works is to disconnect any USB connection to
the phone and to press stop tethering followed by start tethering. Reconnecting
it after the tethering has started well permit the phone to charge, but now the
phone doesn't detect that it is connected via USB so you cannot use your phone
with your computer in USB mass storage, kies, or media player modes while
tethering.

Because of the amount of power tethering requires, I only do it if I can plug
in my phone to keep it charged. I have a self powered hub connected to my
computer where I plug my phone in. I also notice this problem with the computer
off too though, which concerns me because it may be an issue if I'm traveling
and need to tether and keep my phone charged/ready to go if I need to go
somewhere.

Apologies about having two issues for the same problem. Google kept giving me
server errors leading me to believe it hadn't been posted. Please delete issue
664 or this one. Thanks
