Editing datafile directly to contain duplicate person wipes all data

Edited datafile to have the same person and when i loaded the app, an empty contact list is shown. Not sure if this is intended

Yes, this is intended. It is clearly stated in the User Guide that "If your changes to the data file makes its format invalid, PlannerMD will discard all data and start with an empty data file at the next run.". In this case, since you have edited the data file to have duplicate patients, the data file is corrupted and will discard all data and start with an empty data file.
