The main focus of this PR is on modifying the server to pick up an instance ID from the cidata volume but a couple of other changes were also made including:
some cleanups to replace fmt with log or pterm
bugfix in client in which the addr and port were not used when uploading the config
modifications to the VM build to enable port 2222 to be open
