The word "beer" is being stemmed to wrong synonyms #1

The stemming for the word "beer" stemms it to unrelated synonyms "was", "is" and "are". Maybe "beer" is being stemmed to "be" and then extended again?

Somewhat relevant: When searching for "phaser", searchd does not return results containing the word "phasers".
