Request: Reverse Image Searching #1895

Open BurnyBoi opened 4 years ago

BurnyBoi commented 4 years ago

Requesting ability to reverse image search. Provide an image, and Searx tells you information on where it's from, etc. This information could be scraped from Google's reverse image searching, and I'm sure other major engines have it too, but Google is the first that comes to mind.

Example: https://www.google.com/searchbyimage?image_url=https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/Linus_Torvalds_%28cropped%29.jpg&safe=off

I would consider this feature a priority. And doesn't look hard to implement a bunch of different Reverse Image Engines like this page does: https://www.duplichecker.com/reverse-image-search.php

Good to know ... we look forward to your PR.

Being able to do such a thing from the API would also be really helpful - especially if we could send a URL to an image to Searx and be able to search for the image in question.

If it is only about supporting images as URLs, this feature can be easily implemented as new engines.

+1, I'm sick of needing to go to other sites to reverse search an image. This would be amazing, it could utilize multiple different reverse search engines and scrape the results.

I would say it could be worth considering adding a little warning just stating that it uploads your images to multiple different hosts.

Any word on this?

Saucenao and IQDB/IQDB3D could be nice additions as well.
