go to nav side -> subscription -> step 1(to open default setting) -> step 2(reset all category/feed of this option) -> step 3 (set disable) Then feedme won't download web page while sync.
Yeah, that doesn't actually work in practice. I set that and it continued to download and default to the web view. Just add an option to disable it please, it's bad practice to make an unchangeable default that alters the basic behavior of web content.
download and default to the web view
do you mean open article and then show web view? there is another option to disable it.
Listen, I followed the instructions in your documentation, as well as your replies to this and other issues on here. None of them worked to actually turn the web view off. Every time I open an article, it shows the web view by default, which is broken for a lot of the feeds I'm subscribed to.
Frankly, this is pathologically bad behavior, you should not be making a default choice to display content in a way that is different from what the author intends and you definitely shouldn't be doing it without providing an option to turn off that behavior. It runs counter to every best practice when it comes to web standards.
Another possible reason, the downloaded article keep show the web page by default, so you can clean cache and sync again, then you can see the feed page by default.
It has nothing to do with the cache. It is happening with new articles in feeds after settings have been changed for days. Also, I tried clearing the cache too.
I'll switch to a different reader that actually follows web standards.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. More often than not, in my use case, the web view is poorly formatted, broken or otherwise undesirable. Going through and disabling it for every individual feed is inefficient, especially for a large number of feeds.
Describe the solution you'd like Add a global default option to turn off the web view download for everything.
Describe alternatives you've considered Switching to a different feed reader app.
Additional context I understand the idea behind the web view feature, but in practice it doesn't work well, at least not for the feeds that I read. More often than not, it presents a more broken view than the feed version. I shouldn't have to spend a bunch of time disabling the web view for every individual feed, I should have the option to view all my feeds the way the publisher intended for them to be viewed.
