Hello Bill,
I think I managed to find the cause of those buttons loss.
Also now you have only single speed, but to be honest, for me it is not very
usable; let me know if this is what you had in mind...
Kind regards,
Michal
PS. Due to the filled attachment quota, please download the package here:

i was wondering if you can turn the delay for when the mouse starts moving to
nothing too? mouse override is what np calls it, also it doesn't seem to click
while paused yet.

Hello Bill,
as for the clicking while paused, it is not hard to do technically, but I have
to extend the interface for it a little bit (at least it seems that way now)
and I'm still thinking through how to do it best in order to not mess up the
interface...
As for the delay, I'm not sure what you mean; mickey works relatively and I'm
not influencing the mouse/mousepad itself in any way - to be exact, their
inputs are summed. There is no overriding done anywhere - just another mouse is
added to the system and the system uses input from all of them simulaneously.
You should not see any delay in the movement - the only thing that could be
perceived as a delay is the deadzone, but it works spatially, not temporally.
It means that there is a range of movements around the center, that is ignored
by mickey.
Could you please elaborate a bit more on the delay you are seeing? When do you
see it and so on...
Kind regards,
Michal

when i move my head it takes a certain amount of movement before moving the
mouse on screen, is that the dead zone?

Yes, that is exact description of deadzone...

either, sorry for the extra work.

Hello Bill,
I'm just finishing a new version (if all goes well, it should be ready in the
evening), that allows both... I had to do the rewrite, to clean and simplify
the structure and interactions between different parts of the thing to make it
more maintainable...
Also the gui is reworked and I'd be interested in your opinion - is it logical,
understandable?
I'll let you know as soon as it is ready.
Kind regards,
Michal

Hello Bill,
here is the new version:
http://linux-track.googlecode.com/files/linuxtrack130104.zip
Just unpack it to /opt/linuxtrack as before and run /opt/linuxtrack/bin/mickey
...
Please let me know how does it work (or doesn't work) for you. Also check the
help, it should contain all the informations needed to get it going.
Kind regards,
Michal

Hello Bill,
I just wanted to ask you - by any chance, did you have time to try it out? Does
it work? Do you still see any problems?
If you didn't have time, no problem, I can imagine you have other things to
do...
I'm just curious...
Kind regards,
Michal

Hello Bill,
I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I had some hardware troubles that I had
to resolve them to be able to concentrate on the task... I just put the new
build here: http://linux-track.googlecode.com/files/linuxtrack130128.zip
The sip and puff switch should work now. Please let me know if it works for
you...
Kind regards,

At the moment I'll have to play with the build system, so I can pump out the
packages; feel free to report any problems you encounter...

i wonder if we can make it move faster and slower with the speed of my head. If
i move it slower the mickey moves slower and the faster i move my head the
faster the mouse moves. Is there a setting for that?
Original comment by billstre...@gmail.com

Hello Bill,
Right now, it works mostly like a trackpoint - instead of pressure, there is a
displacement from the center position; the farther you move your head from the
center, the faster the cursor goes in that direction. It is not about a speed
of the movement, only about the "size" (actualy angle) of the movement
(rotation).
If you have the "Step Only" checkbox unchecked, you should get the above
behavior.
If it is checked, it is only sitting still, or running the maximal preset speed.
Could you please elaborate a bit more on the behavior you'd like to see?
Thank you,
Michal
PS. Other than that, did you encounter any problems?

Is there a way to get the mouse to stop when my head stops anywhere or do i
need the dead zone changed? It seems to slow to a stop not stop instantly.
Original comment by billstre...@gmail.com

Hello Bill,
I can think of two different sources of a behaviour you describe - either it is
the deadzone, or a filtration...
If the movement seems to be like delayed, I'd try to adjust the filter factor
(in the ltr_gui, tracking pane).
If the cursor randomly moves, when you have the head centred, then the eadzone
needs adjustment.
If you want to, you can send me the setup using this command:
tar cfz ~/ltr_setup.tgz ~/.config/linuxtrack
zip ~/ltr_setup.zip ~/ltr_setup.tgz
It will create a zip file in your home directory that you can attach here...
Using TrackIR5, I think I can simulate the SmartNav relatively well, so I can
try and see how does it behave.
Kind regards,
Michal

i've noticed i have not .linuxtrack folder too

Hello Bill,
without further info, I can't tell, why the mickey doesn't start; to find out,
try the following comand:
find /opt/linuxtrack -type f -perm /u+x \! -name '*.la' -exec ldd {} \; | grep
-i "not found"
It will go through the libraries and executables and will print all the
libraries that are missing... That sould give you info on what to install to
get it working.
In general, the following things are necessary: qt4, libQxt, libusb-1.0, wine...
The following are recommended, to have everything working: cwiid, OpenCV,
libv4l...
It is possible, I've forgotten something, so there might be others, but the
line above will tell you what is missing.
As for the missing .linuxtrack, it is OK, the new version stores things in
.config/linuxtrack directory in your home dir.
Kind regards,
Michal
PS. May I ask you - before the mint install, did you use the mickey? Did it
work for you?

Hello Bill,
mickey is now part of the universal packages available on the project's
download page.
Just in case, there is a new wiki page, that mentions steps to fix permissions
on the uinput file - http://code.google.com/p/linux-track/wiki/VirtualMouse
I will close this issue now, feel free to reopen it or open a new one if
needed...
Kind regards,
Michal
