Surface Book 1 Camera not working #1441

Hi there,

I'm a user that knows just enough to be dangerous with computers and I resurrected my old Surface Book with Brunch/ChromeOS. I've read other threads saying that the camera straight up doesn't work, but I was wondering if anyone else had any luck getting it to work.

I've tried editing the grub and adding the no_camera_config, which now makes the computer think there is literally no camera connected. Previously, apps would load and think the camera was there, but it wouldn't ever connect.

Any ideas?

The linux kernel support for the Surface Cameras is minimal to begin with, and I believe that due to the fact that they require "extending the Intel IPU3 driver to support the Windows based ACPI definitions", this makes them much more difficult to integrate into ChromeOS -- so to answer your question, the Surface cameras currently are not currently supported in ChromeOS.
