Strange video issues render system unusable hp probook i5 first gen #684

Ok this is an hp probook 4520s with an i5-460m first gen. this same laptop works awesome and really fast in cloudready but alas cloudready has no playstore so i went ahead and installed both v83 and v86 and both suffer from exactly the same video issue. as soon as i log in my entire screen freezes up on me and you would think the laptop is frozen up. but if you hit the f5 key the video comes back suddenly for a brief moment and you can see that the os has loaded up.

however if you attempt to do anything at all such as maximize or minimize a window the video will freeze on you again and you will be stuck on the last frame before you maximized until you hit f5 again and the screen will refresh showing you that the computer is indeed responding to your commands its just the video that gets stuck. this makes the machine utterly unusable. such a shame, this old hardware that can barely keep up with win10 seems to run so much faster in chrome os.

Hi, indeed I hesitated to remove intel 1st Gen from the compatible devices as Google changed something in r83 which created this issue. However, it is not pure hardware incompatibility, most probably just an issue with the mesa driver so it is still possible that it gets fixed at some point.

For now the only solution is to stay on r81.
