I'm not sure what to do about the Travis failure – I have no experience with nix.

Oh, and if you could fix the base bounds to < 4.11 for some of the more recent releases, that would be very nice.

@sjakobi Appears that it's having some grief with the async library because it's trying to build with GHC 8.5, I'll have a look at that in a bit.
