Lets try not to squash merges here, I think itll help for issue tracking

How do you think it'll help with issue tracking? I'm impartial, but squashes do provide a 1:1 relationship between commits and issues. IMO not squashing actually makes it harder to track issues/releases and breaking changes.

I was thinking squash to master, normal to develop.

I think NPM expects master as the release branch, I mean I'm open to anything, I just find it easier to review merges to develop when theres no chance of merge conflicts due to branches off of branches, cant particularly control it in a more hectic environment
