This ticket is dependent on Generalize API calls for LLM integration #29 . Should wait until this feature is completed before continuing with this issue.

Description:

To enhance our development and testing workflows, there's a need to establish a local development environment that supports integration with a local Large Language Model (LLM). This setup will allow our team to develop and test functionalities involving LLMs without the dependency on cloud services or external APIs, leading to faster iteration cycles and improved offline development capabilities.

Acceptance Criteria:

  1. Local LLM Setup:

    • Provide a guide on installing and running a local LLM instance (e.g., an open-source GPT model or a lightweight alternative suitable for development purposes).
    • Ensure the local LLM is accessible via an API or a similar interface that mimics the cloud-based LLM services.
  2. Integration with the Local Development Environment:

    • Document the process of configuring the development environment to interact with the local LLM, including necessary environment variables, network configurations, and any required authentication mechanisms.
    • Ensure the environment supports switching between the local LLM and cloud-based LLMs with minimal configuration changes.
  3. Testing and Validation Framework:

    • Establish a testing framework that allows developers to validate the integration with the local LLM, including unit tests and integration tests that simulate real-world usage scenarios.
    • Provide examples of test cases that demonstrate the system's ability to utilize the local LLM for generating responses, handling errors, and managing different types of inputs.
  4. Documentation and Developer Guides:

    • Create comprehensive documentation covering the setup process, troubleshooting tips, and best practices for working with the local LLM.
    • Include a FAQ section addressing common issues encountered during the setup and integration process.
