How would you like the feature to work?

Resident Payment Info Used Lifetime Member

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

This was done for the residents in the past when they were offered lifetime memberships. I asked at Support and was directed here to suggest it. Thank you for your consideration.

I don't believe this is information that should be disclosed. The promotion didn't mention anything about a special badge or tag to denote lifetime status. It only stated there would be the same benefits as normal premium subscriptions, without the requirement of monthly, quarterly, or yearly payments. The sum someone has spent constitutes personal information, and I firmly believe it should be kept confidential. We must tread carefully when considering the dissemination of such personal details.

For individuals who wish to showcase their lifetime status, a group could be established. Participation in this group would be voluntary and only lifetime members would be accepted, thus allowing only those interested in sharing their status to do so. This approach maintains the privacy of those who prefer not to disclose such information.

Having a virtual world profile badge stating Lifetime Member hardly divulges any real life info such as Name, DOB, Soc # etc. It merely indicates that someone paid LL 750 usd or 1500 usd for a membership, a price that is already public information. This was done in the past as indicated and the lifetime members I have encountered over time have never expressed a regret for having their badge.

As for an inworld group, unless controlled by LL, how could one prove that they had paid for a lifetime membership for group admittance without showing some kind of RL proof?

The price is publicly available information, but the fact that someone purchased the package is not. I don't see any reason for everyone to know about my purchase as soon as they read my profile. By awarding a badge, you inadvertently make the information about that purchase public. Nowhere in the package promotion or details was it mentioned that a badge would be included; it was solely about accessing all the Premium (or Premium Plus) features, nothing more or less.

As for the group I am proposing, it would be reasonable to disclose the information about purchasing the package voluntarily to another resident that owns the group (if it's not Linden owned). However, I understand that it may not be a significant concern for those who desire the badge, as they already want to make such disclosure mandatory for all package buyers. This approach would allow individuals the freedom to share their purchase information at their own discretion.

Thank you both for your comments. This was my first time posting here so I didn't know if anyone would respond or what to expect. It would be nice to hear from one of the first round of Lifetime Members as to their thoughts as well. Also, Augmented's points may indeed be the reason LL did not offer the badge this time around. Definitely some thoughts to think over as I await the Lindens attention to my request.

The web profiles currently have badges, including those identifying beta residents and legacy lifetime residents. As for viewer profiles, I think this was recently implemented. The recent viewer release notes has a line item indicating profile badges were being added back into the viewer: SL-19636 Add badges back into Profiles And going to the viewer's \skins\default\textures\icons (I think) directory, you can find several profile_badge png files that indicate Linden Lab employee, beta resident, and the various lifetime flavors. I saw this on a LL profile the other night.

After giving it a bit more thought, I like the idea of that badge too.

But, if it's not too complicated, please add an option to make the badge hidden (like the group titles that you can select an active group or select none).
