[BUG-234696] Receive group notices checkbox does not appear to work, I continue to get notices. #11577

What just happened?

I've gotten tired of getting the group notifications from several groups I'm in and so I uncheck the option in the group profile "Receive group notices" however I continue to get group notifications. I close the conversation window and after some time I will get another group conversation notification. I don't want to leave the group but I also don't want 50 group conversation notifications poping up every day.

What were you doing when it happened?

Nothing, just being logged in.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

The hover hint/tip for the checkbox for "Receive group notices" reads, "Sets wheather you want to receive notices from this group, uncheck this box if this group is spamming you." I take this to mean that unchecking this box will prevent the group chat notifications from poping up.

Other information

It's actually becoming annoying.

Hi dantia,

Group notices differs from group chat. In the SL Viewer, you can edit the actions for receiving group chat messages at Preferences>Chat>Group Chat.

Does this solve your issue?

I also notice that you're using an old Test GLTF viewer. Please be sure to update to the latest GLTF viewer here: https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/7.0.1.6894459864.html

Thank you for the download link to the latest build.  Setting the chat > group chat option to "No action" was the first thing I tried. So I thought it must be the one shown in the group profile.  If setting this to No action is meant to suppress group chats from poping up it isn't working properly.

I've been logged in only a few minutes have have recieved a number of group chat notifications.  image-2023-11-20-18-27-40-287.png

Hello dantia,

So the setting you show in the screenshot for "no action" on group chat does not prevent you from receiving group chat, it prevents the actual chat message from popping up on the screen or automatically opening the conversation floater.

It seems this feature is working as designed please contact support directly at https://support.secondlife.com/ and choose from either Submit a Support Case, Live Chat or Phone Support depending on your account type.

This is a more of a feature request which I have now created and linked to this Jira.
