[BUG-234708] Option to turn off 'Preview Floater/Live Texture Preview' in upcoming viewers

How would you like the feature to work?

I am requesting implementing an option to DISABLE (or enable if turned off) the live texture previewer that pops up beneath the cursor when hovered over a texture or anything with an image preview. In both the inventory and texture windows (see video below).

 

EDIT: You could put this option in the INVENTORY SETTINGS - or - SHOW FILTERS - or - Somewhere as an option when clicking on the gear icon in the inventory window. Seeing as previews pop up in the Texture Preview window as well as the Inventory window maybe having it as an option in the Preferences window would be more doable.

 

Shown here in Firestorm Viewer 6.6.16 but I am aware it is a 'feature' in the Standard SecondLife Viewer as well.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

It clutters up the UI, creates more lag and unnecessary load on the texture cache, as well as being redundant in the actual texture preview window.

Apart from an option to completely disable the feature, I would like to request that the texture preview feature not be a "pop up on hover". 

Alternatively, a right click menu for texture preview or a "pop up only while pressing ctrl and hover" would be more preferable.

Gihn, right-click to preview is already a thing, and has been for as long as I can remember being in SL. While I agree that there should be an option to disable this option for those who dislike it, you're suggesting things that have been the standard for ages.

ForgetMeNot Evergarden. I am sorry but I am specifically talking about thumbnail previews and not right click>open textures if that is what you are pointing towards.

From what I understand, this Jira is about thumbnail pop-up previews which are different from opening the texture, and from what I have further learned, this new feature being tested is part of a larger inventory thumbnails update.

I have mostly used firestorm during my 12+ years of being on SL and never seen a right click > thumbnail preview feature so if this specific feature has been a standard on the LL official viewer then do accept my apologies.
