[BUG-234880] Line (diagonal starting at top left /transparent/jagged) across HUDS #11720

What just happened?

Recently, after last updated viewer a diagonal/transparent line showed up that cuts through the HUDS located in the top left. There is nothing attached I can find to detach to stop this. It isn't related to one of the HUDS as I have had those HUDs before with no issue. When I remove the HUDS I don't see the line so it isn't in the environment, seems to be in the HUDs area. I have removed and reinstalled the Second Life Viewer however that didn't fix it. It persists across different accounts with totally different HUD attachments. It is not showing up at all in Firestorm so appears to only be related the SL viewer. This makes me think this viewer version is glitching. Regarding glitching additionally: I noticed that recently picking up new things that several unpacked boxes had one or two of the downloaded items ending up in a random folder separated from most the items, very odd, I hope it is only recent items and that the inventory isn't scrambled.

What were you doing when it happened?

It persists regardless of location in Second Life

What were you expecting to happen instead?

For this line to stop being there if possible, it is distracting and makes me think the viewer is glitching.

Other information

Never seen this before

Hi SamP,

Can you please try clearing your cache to see if that solves your issue?

This can be done via Me>Preferences>Advanced>Clear Cache

Hi Atlas!

I definitely tried that multi times, and just did it again. No change.

I also took everything OFF the avy including HUDs and it was still there when I put any hud back on. This diagonal line is consistent on other avy's logged into from this computer as well.

But it doesn't show up at all on other viewers (such as Firestorm) for these same avys – it only shows up on just Second Life Viewer.  WEIRD.

Thanks for the reply SamP,

Can you confirm that your graphics drivers are fully updated?

Confirming updated. Note I am on a Mac (Monterey v 12.7.2 w AMD Radeon RX 590 8GM graphics card) and the OS manages graphics drivers (unlike PCs where you have to update them seperately). That said I stay on top of updating my Mac.

Also, as noted before, I am not having this problem on the Firestorm viewer. Wouldn't it show up there as well if it was a graphics card issue?

I was able to reproduce this issue by attaching simple cube to the center HUD location on a mac with AMD graphics card. On Mac with M1 graphics it does not reproduce.

OK interesting you were able to reproduce it!  Thank you for trying to do so.

To check this myself, I attached a box to multiple hud attachment locations and if you make the box big enough that lines shows up in all cases.

What is the solution?

This is a new issue for me that recently popped up after years of playing SL without this issue and it doesn't happen on other sl viewers on this same Mac.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Hi SamP,

Unfortunately we presently do not have a solution for this issue. Be sure to keep an eye on future release notes for a potential fix down the track.
