[BUG-234974] Gradient images don't look smooth in pbr viewer #11795

What just happened?

I'm using images with gradients in some products, and on the pbr viewer, we can see the steps between the different shades, while on non pbr viewer the transition is smooth.

What were you doing when it happened?

Applying texture on objects

What were you expecting to happen instead?

The gradients to look smooth in the pbr viewer

Other information

I noticed this on pc and mac. and i suspect it's how the texture is processed in pbr viewer. Or is it relative to srgb vs linear color space ?

Hi observeur,

Are you able to provide a link or landmark to the content for us to investigate this issue? Alternatively, share the content to either Atlas Linden or Dan Linden.

Thanks!

I added 2 prims near the cards, one set as a standard material on the top, and one set as a pbr material on the bottom. I sent you the items in world also Atlas.

I added 2 captures here. Both are taken from the same LL viewer.

Also if you go there you will notice the behavior on the black card. (not the other ones because they use an actual gradient).

here are the coordinates :
