[BUG-2396] Feature and BUG - new archetype.xml

Steps to Reproduce

Exporting appearance.

Actual Behavior

Selecting Develop->Avatar->Character Test->Appearance to XML - produces no apparent action. The viewer may or may not save the file. There is no hint for newer users what did or did not happen or where the file was saved. It would be nice if there were some feedback of some kind.

Expected Behavior

What I expect is the feature request part, some feed back and a new copy of "new archetype.xml" to be saved. I would like to see save location displayed and be able to copy the file location to past into the file explorer.

The bug report is that while the Second Life 3.5.0 (273444) Apr 3 2013 12:48:32 (Second Life Release) works, the current Second Life 3.5.2 (274345) Apr 19 2013 08:36:55 (Second Life Development) does not work.

Re the bug part of this report...

Behaviour has changed. The appearance xml dump is now saved to your viewer's logs folder. On Windows this is C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\logs

The file is now named as firstname_lastname_s_000x.xml

Are you getting this file created Nal?

Using Second Life 3.5.2 (274345) Apr 19 2013 08:36:55 (Second Life Development) I havn't seen any failures yet to dump my appearance to xml.

Re the feature request part of this report.

Firestorm has this behaviour already. If LL are interested in this feature from Firestorm, the developer to contact is Cinder Roxley.

When saving appearance to xml, the file picker will open so the user can choose where to save the appearance dump.

On completion, a message is given as a notification toast that the dump was successfull

Whirly, your right... I am finding the file in LOGS. The name change hide it from search.

However, the current main 3.5.0 put it on the old location.

So, I would really like to see some feedback in the viewer on if and where the file is saved.
