[BUG-40576] I've lost my inventory!

Steps to Reproduce

I had just logged in.

Actual Behavior

I logged in and I get a text box saying that my avatar couldn't be loaded because the items weren't available. Upon checking my inventory folders, I'm discovering I'm missing a vast majority or my inventory. Folders are empty. My skin/shape/ etc are all in the appropriate folder, but my avatar isn't loading. I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm upset and worried I won't be able to recover my items or that my account has been hacked.

Expected Behavior

I was expecting to log in and begin playing like normal

Heya SaphiraArashi,

Most cases of missing inventory are caused by a borked viewer cache, so try a cache clear first. In the top menu bar of the viewer, go to Me -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Click the "Clear Cache" button -> Ok Then restart the viewer - the cache will be cleaned when the viewer launches. Login to a low lag region (for example Pooley), open your inventory and wait for it to fetch.

Note that there is a bug on the current LL viewer that will cause your avatar to get stuck as a cloud after clearing cache. To fix this, open your inventory and expand the "My Outfits" folder. Drag any of your saved outfit folders onto your avatar from your inventory. Your avatar should then rez. If not, a relog without a cache clear should fix it.

I've got my inventory back, yes, thanks to a kind resident whom I reluctantly had to ask if I was naked lol I didn't wanna get banned! However after switching outfits, skins, shapes, etc I'm still in fluffy white cloud form :/

Hi Saphira,

You are a cloud because you cleared cache. Please drag any of your saved outfit folders onto your avatar from your inventory. Your avatar should then rez.

Hi Kyle,

I've dragged several outfit folders onto my AV and waited, but I'm still in cloud form. I've just noticed this as well; if I zoom in towards my AV with my mouse, for just a quick flash of a second it looks like I'm on fire- I'm talking like a ball of fire. I tried taking a screen shot but it's not working. Is this normal?

In the top menu bar of the viewer, go to Me -> Choose an avatar. Pick any of the avatars there & click "Select". Does your avatar then rez?

Regarding the fire & butterflies thing, if there are other nearby particles using fire & butterfly textures then you may see those textures on your avatar cloud at certain camera angles. There's a bug (not yet fixed) which causes particle textures to get all mixed up - see BUG-3961

I'm a solid mass again!! It did the trick. I picked one of the random AV's, rezzed it, then replaced it with my official one.
