[BUG-40920] Closing Appearance window forces avatar and camera movement regardless of circumstance. #12528

sl-service-account commented 7 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

I was changing outfits using the My Outfits tab of the Appearance menu. At the time, I was facing toward my friends, and had my camera positioned to overlook the area (something I often do). Because of where I had my camera positioned at the time, upon closing the Appearance window, I suddenly found myself facing away from my friends, and had to turn back towards them and reposition the camera back to where I wanted it. This issue occurs every time I close the Appearance menu, regardless of whether I am editing anything or not.

This issue started occurring with the recent Second Life Release update. EDIT: The issue only comes up under the condition that I've tried editing my outfit or shape at least once. Before doing that, it does not occur. After doing that, it occurs every time until I log off.

Actual Behavior

Upon closing the Appearance window, Second Life turned my avatar away from the camera and reset my camera position, even though I wasn't editing my shape or outfit.

Expected Behavior

When I closed the Apperance window, because I wasn't editing anything, I expected my avatar to continue facing the same direction, and my camera to remain where I had it positioned.

Other information

I know there is an option in Preferences to turn off automatic camera position for Appearance, but this also turns off the editing pose for when I'm editing my outfit or shape. I still want the reposition to occur when I'm doing that.

Hmm I cant reproduce this on Second Life 4.1.2.321518 (Second Life Release). I tested with both "Automatic position for appearance" enabled & disabled under Preferences -> Move & View. I tested replacing outfit via the Outfit Gallery tab and the My Outfits tab of appearance panel.

I also tested going into Edit Outfit mode (which will correctly move camera if you have "Automatic position for appearance" enabled) and then exiting edit outfit mode with the back button so I'm back in the main appearance panel (camera correctly leaves editing appearance position), moving camera, then replacing outfit and then closing the appearance floater.

I notice you filed this issue from Rocket City. Are you by any chance a tiny and wearing a scripted camera position fixer/follower for tinies or anything like that?

No, I was not using a scripted camera or tiny avatar.

I do have an update to the issue, though. The issue only comes up under the condition that I've tried editing my outfit or shape at least once. Before doing that, it does not occur. After doing that, it occurs every time until I log off.

Aha! Reproduced on Second Life 4.1.2.321518 (Second Life Release)

Observed As soon as appearance window is closed, camera position resets to default view behind avatar.

Expected Camera position should not change.

Bug does not reproduce on the Bento-RC: Second Life 5.0.0.321598 (Second Life Release) Looks like this is a new bug in the last batch of Maint fixes that just went to release.
