Heya Boris,

Just to clarify, are you using the "Large" Font Size setting under Preferences -> Chat?

If you change the Font Size setting there between small, medium (default) & large, do you see the font size changing in the viewer? Is the problem that the Large font size on the new viewer release is larger then medium but it is smaller then on previous releases?

Is the whole user interface smaller then on the previous release too or is just the font size affected?

Under Preferences -> Advanced, what value do you have set for UI scaling? If you raise the UI scaling setting, does this fix the problem? Note that raising the UI scaling will make the whole user interface larger, not just the font.

Are you using multiple monitors? What's the resolution of your monitor/s?

Hi Boris, One more question - does this build fix the problems for you? http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/hg/repo/viewer-lynx/rev/321932/arch/CYGWIN/installer/Second_Life_4_1_3_321932_i686_Setup.exe

I am using the large font under preferences, chat If I change the font size nothing happens The problem is the font size is tiny whatever the setting The user interface fits the whole screen and seem to be the same size as before UI was set at 1. If I raise it to 1.50 the font is larger. However the default setting under the advanced menu returns it to 1 (I don't know what UI is) I am only using one monitor. How do I check the resolution? I am sorry not being technically minded I am not quite sure I understand Grumpity Linden's suggestion

The problem only came about when SL was automatically updated. The same day before the update everything was fine

Hope this helps

Currently I have set the UI at 1.50 so SL is usable but the I still have this inability to change the font size using the normal method

Regards

Thanks for the info.

Ok, so the font size not changing under Preferences -> Chat is likely to be a bug. In the viewer you are using, there were changes made to how DPI scaling works.

I can't actually reproduce that myself on Second Life 5.0.0.321958 (Second Life Release). When I change the font size, I can see the changes: https://gyazo.com/7db6c5c260b31c1853953aaba61f50c3 I tested on my Windows 10 laptop as well as my Windows 7 desktop. Neither of these systems have a high res monitor though & this could very well affect the results. Both my monitors are 1920x1080.

I don't know what UI is UI = User Interface - everything you see in the viewer apart from the world view.

How do I check the resolution? For Windows 8.1, right click on the desktop -> Screen Resolution

I am sorry not being technically minded I am not quite sure I understand Grumpity Linden's suggestion

The viewer she gave you has some more DPI fixes in it which may fix your problem.

The viewer will auto-launch after install. Login on it and comment back if your problem is fixed.
