It would be nice to have the option on one of two views, one with and one without prims (terrain only) like with gridsurvey.com's map api service.

The same thing has been done in real life on aerial photos. I don't see how this is a problem.

The V1 viewer had this option: on the top left you could pick either Objects or Terrain.

Oh yeah, I forgot the old 1.23 had that feature Jonathan.

(Personally the adverts/logos/images displaying on the world map tiles dont bother me. I find it interesting to see what people add there. There are some really cool ones that are just cute images that are not advertising in any way. I feel that if someone pays for a full region, they should be allowed to rez what they want there and have the ability to control what displays on their regions map tile).

The old 1.23 dual view, totally forgot about it, esp since I never saw it in Phoenix. Yes, would be nice to have that back in v3.
Steps to Reproduce
Looking at Second Life world map in Second Life viewer.
Actual Behavior
There is ever growing number of ads on the Second Life world map. Some region owners use region wide prims up in the sky where they put their ad or logo. The result is that those ads and logos will appear in the world map. For example those infamous heart symbols. They are all over the map. What is the original meaning of the world map? Most likely it was meant to be solely a map where users can see the land features. Now in many places the world map does not serve this purpose anymore because of those region wide advertizing megaprims up in the sky.
Expected Behavior
One would expect to see a clean map without all the ads and logos in it.
Other information
Please prohibit the use of those region wide megaprims which ruin the map with ads: "Thou shalt not put ads nor logos up in the sky so that they would appear in the world map".
Or create two layers for the world map - one for clean map view and one for 'ruined' map view with all those ads and logos. Thank you.
