[BUG-5139] Windows & Macs - Certain rigged mesh stretches to 0,0,0 (only workaround disabling Hardware Skinning) #13281

Open sl-service-account opened 10 years ago

sl-service-account commented 10 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

Attending the TPV Meeting February 14, 2014, I noticed Trinity's boots stretch to 0,0,0, (see snapshot). Bought the demo and confirmed behaviour is coming from the zipper on the boots.

Actual Behavior

Mid-high viewer settings Atmospheric Shaders - enabled Advanced Lighting Model - enabled Hardware Skinning - enabled = stretch

Zipper in the demo boots (rigged mesh) (see snapshot and where to buy demo) stretches to 0,0,0,

Disabling Hardware Skinning only workaround to removing the stretch to 0,0,0

Disable HS only

Expected Behavior

Would like to not have to disable Hardware Skinning.

Other information

A&Y Deuz Boots Metallic Black - [DEMO] rigged mesh http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Zora/211/65/22

Knee Angle 50 (default)

Initially seen on Firestorm internal version with Fitted Mesh and HTTP Firestorm 4.5.2 (40342) Feb 14 2014 04:47:58 (Firestorm-Betax64) with OpenSimulator support

Thanks Whirly and MaryBeth - I updated to Catalyst 13.12 and still need to disable Hardware Skinning to get rid of the stretch to 0,0,0 on the zipper on both FS and V3 :-(

I was beginning to think it was just the zipper pull on these boots, but I found another example today.

Buy the demo version of TRUTH HAIR Marleen (Mesh Hair) - DEMO https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/TRUTH-HAIR-Marleen-Mesh-Hair-DEMO/5410325

Same as first example. ALM disabled, only disabling Hardware Skinning removes the 0,0,0 stretch. Using Nicky's test build Firestorm 4.6.2 (40511) Mar 10 2014 23:20:53 (Firestorm-test) with OpenSimulator support Repros on V3 Second Life 3.7.3 (287491) Mar 4 2014 05:01:31 (Second Life Release)

Same system info, except using Catalyst 13.9 at the moment.

Also repros on Mac and ATI. See http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-13071

Also, Marybeth Oceanlane (above) can now repro this.

The old hooded tops i created about 3 years ago when mesh first arrived. As far as i can tell this bug only effects my old content. Either the mesh importer has improved, or my mesh skills have. Only effects AMD users from what i can gather.

Updated to add: Using Second Life 3.7.7 (289461) Apr 22 2014 13:01:33 (Second Life Release) and Catalyst Driver Version 14.4 resolves this issue for me. Wearing the same non-rigged mesh items initially reported on there is no stretch to region coordinates 0,0,0.

Added bonus is the line flickering seems to have been fixed as well.

Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1280 OpenGL Version: 4.2.12874 Compatibility Profile Context 14.100.0.0

Unfortunately, this won't help Mac users with ATI, nor Windows users with older GPUs or OEMs.
