[BUG-5483] Only Avatars are grey and Alpha won't rezz

Steps to Reproduce

It happens everytime I log in

Actual Behavior

Whenever I log in , I see my avatar grey and everyone around me is grey for hours. If I go in edit appearance mode then my avatar only is perfectly visible to me but again in less than 20 secs my avatar turns grey. However every prim and other other objects rezz perfectly fine to me in the highest detail possible inworld.

Expected Behavior

I expect every one and everything to rezz properly

Heya Lazylover,

Are you connecting to Second Life using a cellular network? (ref: BUG-3323 - though I believe this issue is mostly fied now?).

Please can you run a session for at least 20 mins where you reproduce seeing lots of grey avatars. Also change avatar outfits a few times in this session. Then immediately, before relogging, zip up your entire logs folder and attach it to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files. Im having problems opening the .arc attachment. Whats the best program to open this? 7-zip & Winrar were a no go. If someone can open this, please can they reattach as a zip? Ta :)

I see some suspicious things in your logs but unfortunately I dont know how to interpret them very well. Anyway - to me these parts look alarming...

Heya Lazylover,

I had a reply from Monty and he has asked for more information about your network. He noted that you got throttled down to 200 kbps as well as having many strange HTTP errors.

• Are you using a wired or wireless connection?
• If you use a router, what make & model is the router?
• What firewall and antivirus software are you using?
• Do you happen to have Webroot antivirus installed?
• Do you have any kind of proxy or cache or other network-like utility working on your LAN? Squid, HTTP Proxy, SOCKS5 proxy, game accelerator, etc.?
• Can you follow the instructions on http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_speedtest to take the speedtests to the 3 locations given and give the results for ping, upload and download speeds for each location.

• What setting do you have set for maximum bandwidth under Me -> Preferences -> Setup?

  Do you have any alt accounts? If not, please can you create a new alt from https://join.secondlife.com/ Login the alt and if its a new account, leave it in the default avatar. If its an older alt, open Me -> Choose an avatar -> Humans -> select one of the avatars to wear.

  Monty would like to know if you are seeing the same problems when using an alt account wearing a very simple avatar. If you can still reproduce this problem, stay online for an hour or so and teleport around a few different regions, preferable places with other avatars nearby and after logging out, zip up your logs folder again, name it Logs_alt and attach it to this issue.
