From TJ Linden: "I tried a number of fixes, and got the same results - I can get the textures to look normal temporarily by going to the Edit Outfit screen, but as soon as I relog, the textures are gray again. It looks like this is a bug - if you could file a bug report using the directions at the link below, it will help our developers to locate the source of this problem and get it corrected. Expected Behavior

the selected outift to load, but only part of it did, so i loaded another outfit and after that I was a cloud to everyone except me

Heya Nottoo,

Just to check, did TJ login your avatar and reproduce this problem with a certain outfit/s in your inventory?

If you are wearing an alpha layer, or any clothing layer which contains a corrupted texture it can cause these symptoms. If you have this certain alpha/tattoo/clothing later in many of your outfits it can be difficult to track down the problem asset.

I will try to catch you online inworld - its much easier to try to find the cause of this when I can actually see your avatars textures inworld.

Met with Nottoo inworld.

Something is very wrong with her avatar baking. She will attach logs from tghe official viewer with DebugAvatarAppearanceMessage enabled shortly.

This is what she sees above her avatar when DebugAvatarAppearanceMessage is TRUE:

LB - mLocal: 1, mEdit 0, mUSB: 0, CVB: 1 [------] - cof: 305278 req 305278 rcv.-1 rcv.-1 - this is really bad right? rcv is the last COF version you received an appearance message for?

Extra info from Nottoo:

This all started when she was changing an outfit one day. She has been broken this way ever since. When she logs in her avatar will not render to herself. Once she goes into edit appearance mode, she then sees her avatar textures normally for the rest of that session.

All observers see her as a cloud and all observers also see her with cof rcv.-1 when DebugAvatarAppearanceMessage is TRUE. Examining her textures with Debug Texture shows all textures as grey. When she changes outfits, there is no "loading..." showing in the texture thumbnails as there usually is.

We checked how many COF folders she has in inventory - there is only one. Her COF contains the correct items she is wearing - nothing is missing and nothing extra that she isnt wearing is there. COF shows she is always wearing a skin, shape, hairbase and eyes.

The problem has been fixed. To summarize the problem:

1. My avatar could not be seen by others except as a cloud or egg. 2 I was visible to myself if i went in/out of appearance. Each time i logged in I had to repeat this to see myself. 3.My feet were in the floor
2. My inventory was showing a folder to disappear if i put on a piece of clothing.I could restore the folder by collapsing the inventory and expanding it again.
3. Appearance Tex refresh did not work

Unsuccessful solutions included:

1. in and out of appearance
2. changing sims
3. changing groups
4. changing to basic hair, skin, shape and eyes (i tried about 10 variations of this)
5. ruthing myself as a female or male avatar
6. uninstalling firestorm and SL viewer and reinstalling both
7. moving my computer to a date prior to the problem 8.removing all Sl files on my computer
8. I used a friend's avatar and loaded it on the same computer without problems. I had my avatar loaded on a friend's computer and the problem persisted.

The problem occurred when i was changing outfits using the one click outfit replace. The desired outfit did not load completely so i loaded another. The second did not load either, so I tried a third. This did not load either. I relogged and was a cloud from then on.

The solution was to load an outfit that used all 30 avatar attachment points and the screen attachment points. I used a folder called "}}} Av Bug Fix - Attachments (EN) v1.0.2" created by Albatroz Hird. When i put it on i remained a cloud, but when i switched to a regular outfit i was again visible. I relogged and remained as a normal avatar (sexy of course).

I think what happened is that when changing outfits some item remained stuck on me or two were attached together to the same point. Since my outfits tend to be complex I used attachment points that many basic outfits do not use. By using the folder with all attachment points and replace outfit, the problem attachment was removed.

Thanks to the so many people who tried to help me with this and particularly to ROKU2 Hsllard who provided the solution.

A suggestion for improvement would be to make the character tests for female and males use all attachment points instead of a few. This would have solved my problem right away.
