I would like to have the ability to independently specify the alpha channel for a texture on a prim. For example, let's say I had a skin texture applied to my custom mesh avatar that were no mod. All good so far, but I would like to hide some parts of the mesh to wear an attachable mesh. If I could set the alpha channel independently, I could then use a regular gray scale texture for the alpha channel to hide certain spots without the need for the creator of the skin texture to remake the texture with a new alpha each time.
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
This feature would allow creators to make attachments with alphas for custom mesh avatars. It would free the custom mesh avatar creator from the impossible task of making an alpha for each possible attachment in existence for their custom avatar. Lastly, it would provide the consumer of the custom mesh avatar with a wider array of attachment choices and with possibly an easier time making them fit.
