[BUG-6676] Crash when trying to upload animations #14507

Open sl-service-account opened 10 years ago

sl-service-account commented 10 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

Standing in my home - I also tried empty water sims but same result

Actual Behavior

For a few days I have trouble uploading animations. I open the file location and choose the file. When I am in the Upload window and want to change the loop, or priority or click anything in there actually I crash without error message - close to desktop. I have tried this with several viewers and the same thing happens, so it is NOT viewer specific! I emptied my cache and tried again after the inventory loaded but still the same problem.

I'm a pose maker and have deadlines but right now cannot do anything, so this is a major problem

Expected Behavior

To be able to upload my animations

Other information

Please don't tell me to try a different viewer or that it is a Firestorm problem, because I DID try it with several viewers including the official one and got the same result

Heya Chandni,

Does this crash happen when uploading any animation? If it only happens with certain animations, please can you attach a sample bvh file that crashes you to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files.

Are you only crashing when uploading animations or so you also crash when uploading other assets? (Texture, sound, mesh or bulk upload?)

Please can you reproduce this crash using the most recent version of the official viewer, which you can download from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/. After you crash, before relaunching the viewer, zip up your entire logs folder and attach it to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files. This page tells you where to find your logs on the official viewer: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-report-a-bug/ta-p/733545#Section_.3

The Lindens need your logs from the official viewer because they cannot analyse Firestorm logs.

One thing to test on Firestorm to see if it bypasses this animation upload crash - Activate the Advanced menu in the top menu bar with CTRL+ALT+D. Then Advanced -> Debug Settings -> FSUploadAnimationOnOwnAvatar -> Set this to FALSE and test an animation upload. If this does "fix" the crash, I have a good idea what the cause is, but lets see.

Thanks!
