[BUG-6720] SL updated today & when I logged in & got dressed it used settings from about 2 months ago for my outfit. #14542

Steps to Reproduce

I was just logging in. My avi was in bed in my dorm so I got up & tried to change my clothes. I was just standing on the floor of my dorm when I changed out of my jammies. I changed into my old rsam uniform.

Actual Behavior

When I opened my SL viewer I had to agree to the new terms to open SL. I attend school in SL, My Aunt helped start rsam so I attended that school until about 2 months ago. In the Appearance tab in My Outfits I have School Uniform. I had my rsam uniform there so I could change into it with one click. My aunt left & rsam turned to crap so about 2 months ago I quit too & joined NGA. I edited my uniform so I would be wearing my NGA uniform now instead of my rsam uniform. Today there was a class so I logged in to go to class. I had to agree to the new terms before I could open my SL viewer because I guess SL updated something today. When I logged in I got out of bed & put on my uniform for class but instead of my NGA uniform I was wearing my rsam uniform from about 2 months ago. I opened my menu & it listed all the parts of my rsam uniform. I just edited my uniform so I'd have short hair for summer & I had my long hair again too.

Expected Behavior

I expectect to change into the NGA uniform I been wearing for a couple of months.

Yah I didn't have time to report it when it happened so I wasn't in Sawrey I was here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Harmonie%20Heaven/243/54/3007 That should be my dorm (juniors dorm) just between the 2 bunkbeds. When I got to class today my teacher was talking & I got what he said in chat but I couldn't see him. I had my mini map open & couldn't see him on it so I opened my people & he was not shown on the nearby tab, just another student & me. SL seems like its gettin worse, we moved this weekend & had a lot of problems with that too.

Hi pansydesigns,

Can you tell me, were you able to change into the outfit that you wanted (NGA I believe?) If you're able to change into the outfit you want, what happens when you log out and log back into Second Life? Are you still wearing the outfit that you want, or did it revert to some older outfit?

I have a Basic (NGA) Uniform but I never use it cuz we gotta wear the full uniform to school.I changed to that an added the rest of the NGA uniform.Before I logged out I tried on a new dress cuz the designer wanted to know how fitted mesh fits my (kid) shape. So I took off the skirt, blazer an blouse an put the dress on. After I took some pics for the designer I logged out. When I came back I was dressed same as when I logged out, fitted mesh dress, NGA undies , socks an shoes. I changed to the uniform an got the rsam uniform again. When I looked at the peices on the list they were all rsam. When I made my NGA uniform outfit, I named it Full Uniform because I still have the Basic Uniform outfit but when I went to rsam it was just called School Uniform.On my outfits list it is Called School Uniform now.

I did not edit today. I edited 2-3 days ago to change from long hair to short hair for the summer. I do have more than a dozen saved outfits.

There's no way that an update to the Terms of Service would effect your outfits. The update was just an update to the text in the terms of services, and not any changes to systems within the viewer itself.

My guess, is that either there are shared items among your outfits, and when you make a change to one of those items, the change appears in all outfits that share the item. (i.e. Shirt A is part of Outfit A and Outfit B. You change Shirt A's color from red to blue and save Shirt A. Now the Shirt in Outfit A and Outfit B is blue, because the source item (Shirt A) is blue.

In this case you would need to make a copy of Shirt A, and name it something else (like Shirt B.) Then you can have Shirt A be red and Shirt B be blue.

If that's not the case, it's possible that you mistakenly put on the wrong outfit? I'm not sure. Can you attach screeshots of your appearances folder with the contents of each of these outfits showing?

Hi, today when I logged in I noticed my menu was back to normal, it had Full School Uniform (my NGA uniform) instead of School Uniform (my old rsam uniform)I checked it, then put it on an everthing is there including my teeth & the short hair I changed to before the problem. I edited to change the hair 2-3 days before it messed up & it worked fine every day til I reported it so it shouldn't be the hair edit that caused it. Weird prob but it's working now.

Alexa, read my comment to Marissa. Yah I had a busy day an didn't have time to check wut the prob was when I wrote the bug report but I saw that later. I logged in too late last night to work on it but I checked & it was still my old uniform. When I logged in like 20 minutes ago & started to dress, I had my new uniform back again like I should have. shrugs

When I logged in today, the problem was back. I saw the outfit had the old name so I opened it & everything was from the rsam uniform. I cleared the outfits cache so I waited til I logged in again to see if that fixed it but it is still the old rsam uniformI did put the rsam uniform on for a few minutes to show why I wasn't wearing my full uniform & I was wearing the complete old rsam uniform. I'll see wut I can do next time I'm here, it's to late tonight just wanted to report it before the report gets closed.

ok its been a busy week but I got a chance to do some stuff before I went out today. when I logged in, I had my Full Uniform (NGA) so I did somethin an when I went back it was gone an I had School uniform (rsam) again. So I took some screen shots for you. It shows Basic Uniform that I updated an changed the name to Full School uniform, Full School Uniform & Training Pants (new) the new version of the missing outfit & School Uniform, the old rsam uniform: http://tinypic.com/r/f5thl/8

btw I should have 2 sets of penny tats for my hands. when I got home I noticed one o my hands (right?) didnt have a tat. I looked for them an couldn't find them so I did a search an all I could find was a set in my folder for extra sets, when I opened it there was only one tat in it. I thought I had 2 sets of rsam tats but could only find one. I don't like the rsam tats so I added a pair from one of my saved outfits. I should have 2 rsam uniforms but I only saw one in my invo.

I cant be sure I had 2 sets of rsam tats cuz I didnt like em an didnt plan to use em but I had 2 rsam uniforms for sure. They gave me a second one for messing up delivery so bad on the first one. A friend told me she had a prob wit something missing from her invo today too.

Heya Pansy,

I see your screenshots are taken on Firestorm viewer and not the official viewer. Do you happen to have RLV enabled and some clothing folders set to locked?

Go to Avatar -> Preferences -> Firestorm -> General -> Allow remote scripted viewer controls (RLVa). If this option is ticked, untick it, Apply -> Ok and then relog.

I don't have RLV or anythin like it. when I opened Pref it was unchecked but I been havin trouble with clickin an the check box was highlighted so I made some changes so its not even highlighted now. I have the old rsam uniform on my Appearance menu. I relogged like you said just to make sure. I don't see anythin about locked folders I don't know anythin about that. I dont see any change to my menu after loggin in, I still got the old rsam uniform

ok I don't understand the step by step instructions. I log in, I get up, I open my Appearance Menu & I find my uniform changed back to what it was months ago. BTW the uniform was the right one all day today. How did I get my uniform? Don't remember if I saved my first uniform from sha & edited it when I went to rsam or not but when we got our uniforms made for rsam I put it on & saved it in my Appearance tab. when the school turned to crap I went to NGA, put on my uniform, removed most of the stuff from my rsam uniform & saved my new uniform.NGA & rsam have same style shoes but rsam are better quality so I kept the rsam shoes in my uniform, I would of left my shape, skin hair & stuff. I edited a couple of times to change hair an stuff like that but no big changes since i changed schools & uniforms.

Whirly and I just discovered that outfit changes made in outdated Viewer 1 viewers aren't displayed the next time you log in on an up-to-date Viewer 3 viewer.

Example:

  1. Log in to the latest SL Release Viewer
  2. Wear Outfit A
  3. Exit the SL Release Viewer
  4. Log in with SL Viewer 1.23.5, or Lumiya, or some other Viewer 1 viewer
  5. Replace outfit with Outfit B
  6. Exit Viewer 1 viewer
  7. Repeat step 1

Your avatar will be wearing Oufit A instead of Outfit B.

Is it possible that you logged into a Viewer 1 viewer when you put on your NGA uniform pansydesigns? Are you occasionally using Lumiya or something?

Whirly: when I log out almost every night I change into my pj's an go to bed when I log in I am standing on my bed in my pj's. I think I am always in the same place an clothes as I logged out. nobody else used my avi yah thats wut I meantan sometimes when I click somethin it double clicks, prolly why its hard to check boxes. I don't think I have the problem like the sittin one tho its hard to tell cuz sometimes the double click or lag makesu get the wrong thing. I sometimes have that message an don't know why but I checked that image an I think why the message was there is I had a basic uniform, just the shirt an shorts, no tunic or skirt. I added the rest of the stuff to that outfit so I'd have a uniform I could use. I added the pic so you could see wut the full uniform should look like.

Marissa: Log in, click my appearance tab, right click whatever uniform I can wear an click wear - replace current outfit.

I can't remember, I might of been on viewer 1 when I was at rsam, we prolly got our uniforms in April 2014. I joined NGA May 28 so I would of made my full uniform after that. I made the basic uniform first. I can't remember but I might of edited my rsam uniform to make my full NGA uniform.

I don't use Lumiya, I use Firestorm & sometimes the SL viewer. For 3 days my uniform was right an when I checked tonight it was still my NGA uniform but when I started workin on this an had to work with my menus, my rsam uniform was back again.

You say that you "use Firestorm & sometimes the SL viewer." Are you seeing the issue happen in the SL viewer, or is it Firestorm only? Or is it happening when you switch between the two? Can you just use the SL viewer for a few logins and see if you can reproduce the issue? Then try using the Firestorm one for a few logins? If it happens on both, does happen as you switch between the viewers? Does it happen, only the first time you switch? Does it only happen when switching in one direction (i.e. SL Viewer->Firestorm or Firestorm->SL Viewer)

I don't pay attention but I almost always use Firestorm so I guess that's when it happens. I'll try to remember to use the SL viewerfor a few dys to see. We have a few accounts in the family & this is the only one we noticed it happening to. Tho it does mess up shopping cart, my sis & I never see the stuff we saved in our carts.

Hi pansydesigns,

I cloned your account over to a test server so I could login and see what might be going wrong.

The first thing I can see is that the NGA uniform "Full School Uniform & Training Pants" needs to be saved. When you look in the Appearances floater you can see that at the top there is a message that says "Unsaved Changes". So, you should save that. There's a Save button at the bottom of the Appearances floater.

The next issue I see is that many of the items in the outfit "Full School Uniform & Training Pants" are shared across other outfits. For example, if you click the triangle next to "Full School Uniform" you'll see that many of the items like "NGA Uniform Ic Blazer" is bold. That means that you're wearing it.

It's the same asset in each uniform. So, when you make changes to it in one uniform, those changes will appear in the other uniform as well, because it's the same asset. If you want the items to be unique you'll have to do this:

  1. Open the Appearances floater and select the outfit you want to wear
  2. Click the little wrench in the upper right corner
  3. Select the item you want to edit, for example the "NGA Uniform Ic Blazer"
  4. Click the wrench to the right of it.
  5. Rename the jacket to something unique, like: "NGA Uniform Ic Blazer pdesigns"
  6. Then click the Save As button at the bottom of the floater
  7. A floater will appear that reads "Save item to my inventory as:" and the name "NGA Uniform Ic Blazer pdesigns (new)" will be in the text field
  8. Delete the "(new)" off of the end of the name if you want, then press OK
  9. Click the Left Arrow button at the top of the floater to return to editing your outfit
  10. Repeat steps 3 through 9 for each item you want for your outfit
  11. Click the Save button at the bottom of Edit Outfit to replace the outfit, or click Save As to make a unique outfit.

Now the items should be unique
