[BUG-6808] Mesh Object (avatar head) attached to head is rendering when mouselooking #14617

Open sl-service-account opened 10 years ago

sl-service-account commented 10 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

Casually playing Second Life using the new PsiCorp Dragon - Ruby avatar. Issue is always there.

Actual Behavior

When entering mouselook, the mesh avatar head still renders, even after attaching the head to various head slots such as chin and skull. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3f78n0qbd5fbj0k/slissue.jpg

Expected Behavior

I was expecting for the head to not appear when in mouselook mode. On previous avatar heads, when I entered mouselook, I was not able to see any part of the head. For this particular head, I can see the head model whenever I look down, sit down, or fly around in mouselook.

Other information

People in the PsiCorp Customers group mentioned that it may be an issue with rigged mesh. Avatar product is the new PsiCorp Dragon Avatar - Ruby

Just to check, do you have "Show me in mouselook" enabled under Preferences -> Move & View?

I downloaded the avatar and I'm not seeing this issue with or without "Show me in mouselook" enabled in Preferences.

Razgriz1032, which version of the viewer are you using? Can you copy/paste all of the information out of the Help->About Second Life floater?

Also, when you unpacked that avatar, which parameters did you choose? I chose: Dynamic Materials, Female, and Slit Eyes.

Whirly, Show me in Mouselook is checked in preferences. If it weren't, the head would be gone, but so would the rest of the body.

Marissa, could have sworn I put the SL information in, but I realize that it didn't go through or something. Anyway, I have updated it with the Linden Labs version first, and even the Firestorm version that I usually use just in case anyone wants to look at that for some odd reason (I haven't posted this to the Firestorm jira since I am experiencing this problem even with Linden Lab's viewer).

The parameters I chose were Dynamic Materials, Male, Round Eyes. I also did a second one: Dynamic Materials, Androgenous, Round eyes. And for kicks, I just tried your same parameters. I still see the head in mouselook.

I have also added in a dropbox link to a screenshot, all the way at the bottom of Actual Behavior and Other Information.

Razgriz, do you know if there is a demo of this avatar vailable anywhere? I havnt been able to find one.

So, is the head only visible in mouselook when you have "Show me in mouselook" ticked?

Possibly this is a case of BUG-1408 ?

Razgriz, do you only see the head when you look down? If I look straight ahead, then the jaw of the avatar is not in my mouselook view port. But, if I look down then it will come into view. This only happens when I have "Show me in mouselook" enabled. It seems like "expected behavior" to me.

Whirly, there are no demo avatars available. The head is only visible in mouselook when I have Show Me In Mouselook ticked.

Marissa, you are exactly right that by looking down, I would see the head. To me, this is not expected. Other avatar heads (and other mesh objects) that are attached to any head attachment point do not appear in mouselook. Therefore I was not expecting this head to appear either.

I guess the big question could be: Out of countless other objects that I can attach to my head slots, why is this the only object that appears while in mouselook? Could it be because of the differences between rigged mesh and non-rigged mesh?

That seems to be the trick! Thanks Razgriz. I see the problem now.
