System info available from log:
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 877 @ 1.40GHz (1396.86 MHz) OS info: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Version: Second Life Release 3.7.14.292638 Intel HD Graphics
Heya Bman,
Hmm that log file is rather strange.
One oddity is your path for "CrashNotHandled" is pointing to your Google Chrome program...
It should be pointing to the viewers install path, which in your case is C:\Program Files (x86)\SecondLifeViewer\ The session you attached the log for appears to not get as far as the login screen, is this correct? Java

2014-08-28T00:12:17Z WARNING: LLGLManager::initGL: GL Drivers do not support GL_ARB_multitexture
2014-08-28T00:12:25Z WARNING: LLWindowManager::createWindow: LLWindowManager::create() : Error creating window.
2014-08-28T00:12:25Z WARNING: LLViewerWindow::LLViewerWindow: Failed to create window, to be shutting Down, be sure your graphics driver is updated.
2014-08-28T00:12:35Z WARNING: LLViewerWindow::LLViewerWindow: Unable to create window, be sure screen is set at 32-bit color in Control Panels->Display->Settings
So just to clarify, is this correct? If you reboot your computer, you can launch the viewer and login. However, after a certain amount of time logged in, the screen turns black. If you quit the viewer when the screen turns black, are you able to see your desktop normally and relaunch the viewer? Or does the screen stay black after quitting the viewer until you reboot the computer? If you are able to see your desktop normally after the screen turns black and you quit the viewer, if you relaunch the viewer before rebooting the computer, does the viewer fail to launch to the login screen? This is what appears to be happening in the log you attached. The viewer is giving 2 warnings in the log: "....be sure your graphics driver is updated." "Unable to create window, be sure screen is set at 32-bit color in Control Panels->Display->Settings" Please can you check that you are using the latest graphics driver for your card. I suspect this problem is because of your graphics drivers. You appear to have Intel HD graphics, so use the Intel driver update utility here: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect If this does not fix the problem, please can you launch the viewer to the login screen and go to Help -> About SecondLife, click the "Copy to clipboard" button and paste all your system information into a comment here. Can you then run a session and reproduce the screen turning black and quit the viewer. Then before relaunching the viewer, zip up your entire logs folder and attach it to this issue using More Actions -> Attach files. This page tells you where to find your logs folder: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-report-a-bug/ta-p/733545#Section_.3 Also, when did this problem start for you? Did the problem coincide with any changes you made to your system? For example a driver update/downgrade or an operating system update? Have you been able to pinpoint the trigger for your screen turning black? Could the trigger possibly be when you speak on voice or attempt to use inworld media? (This may seem like a strange question but Ive seen this happen before when either slvoice or slplugin have been set to run with a strange compatibility mode setting). maybe its much more simple then that and the problem is caused by a driver crash - though usually this shouldnt need a PC reboot to get things working again...... |

I am able to quit the view and log back in and it functions normally for about or hour sometimes less other times more. The issue started when I received a message from secondlife viewer saying to update graphic card driver and clicked the link and installed the latest version of the graphic card. I clear cache and also ran a disk clean and a defrag rebooted computer but the problem still remains I get a black screen after playing for an hour sometimes less than an hour sometimes I can play for longer than an hour but the black screen comes back. I also attempted to lower graphics in game to medium and low but the problem still persists.

I placed all the second life log files in the attach files section. I wll do another when the black screen happens again.
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-09-05T04:34:51Z
Thanks. The attached log files only contain 1 session from the official viewer in secondlife.log (secondlife.old is missing) and the session from the secondlife.log file ends while the viewer is sitting at the login screen - you didn't actually login this session. The other log files in there are from Singularity viewer.

Acquiring a black screen after being in world for a while sounds like a memory leak to me. The Intel Graphics drivers are particularly notorious for causing memory leaks in our viewer. I'd suggest you role your graphics driver back to the previous driver Bman830. Especially if it wasn't crashing previously.
bman830 commented at 2014-09-14T01:49:40Z
I don't think that is a viable option as the upgrade was suggested by SL Viewer. Also since upgrading to the latest version all of my other programs that require graphics seem to run better and I am getting a crisper more detailed view within second life until the screen gos black on me. I would suggest contacting Intel on your end to see what kind of patch can be applied to correct these issues as Intel is suppose to be a good company with high end technology. The suggestion to roll back to a worse graphic driver is counter productive as I am not having these issues on any other mmorp, other games, or streaming videos that run on my computer.

Our apologies, it appears this jira has been a victim of a spammer. We’re cleaning up the offending comments, sorry for the mess!
Steps to Reproduce
I was walking on a sim going to a location when the black screen appeared and all I could see was titler's. I had to close out of SL and reboot my computer only to have the same issue happen again a few minutes later.
Actual Behavior
the screen went completely black on me all I could see was titlers on the black screen. Keep having to log out and restart pc before logging back in to have the black screen reappear after an hour sometimes even less.
Expected Behavior
Here is the crash report I recieved ...
