[BUG-7947] AMD with Catalyst 14.9 & 14.12: selection outlines display wrongly when ALM is enabled #15603

Open sl-service-account opened 9 years ago

sl-service-account commented 9 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

Editing an object

Actual Behavior

When editing an object with ALM on, selection lines overlays all textures, as seen on pic n° 01. Workaround is to turn ALM off, as seen in pic n°02. So far this seems to happen only with teh latest AMD drivers(14.9)

Expected Behavior

Hope to see if there is some sort of fix for it, instead of having to turn ALM off as a workaround

Other information

Was able to reproduce it on Firestorm

The repro tree is also rezzed here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Testylvania%20Sandbox/72/92/22 Tree can be bought here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Ladys-Christmas-Tree-Innocence/6560299

Note that this affects other (all?) mesh objects when ALM is enabled. Appears to only affect AMD systems on the Catalyst 14.9 driver. Also note that when ALM is enabled, some of the mesh turns semi-transparent when held in edit.

same issue here for me. with ALM on its nearly impossible to place and kind of prims correctly and very impossible to edit textures in any way due lack of visibly (additional outlines, semi transparent textures)

additionally a minor glitch appears (on previews driver versions than stated above even more often) that especially on png textures (baked and unbaked) triangle shaped holes can appear on every kind of prim (majorly standart prims, but also sculpts and meshes). with ALM turned off/toggled the textures appear in a normal visibly again without any holes.

both glitches are viewer independent and server independent (tested with LL's viewers and firestorm and different servers)

my own system: CPU: AMD FX(tm)-6200 Six-Core Processor (4117.88 MHz) Memory: 16330 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 (Build 7601) Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (R9 280 OC, 3 GB Ram DDR5)

For a second workaround, you can use Build->Options->Show Selection Outlines – that will hide the wireframe mess and let you stay on high graphics.

BUG-8003 reports the problem persists on the 14.12 Omega Catalyst release.

BUG-9853 reports that the problem persists on Windows 10, AMD Radeon R7 200 Series using 15.7 Catalyst. They also report that rolling back to the 14.4 Catalyst on Windows 10 still reproduces this bug.

Singularity appears to have a fix for this in its alpha from August.

(Additional changes were required to make this sensible, detail has been moved off the LL JIRA.)
