[BUG-8010] When IMs are capped, keep the new messages, not the old ones #15658

How would you like the feature to work?

If I receive too many instant messages while offline, rather than keeping the old messages and telling me I missed a lot of new ones, keep the new ones and tell me I missed the old ones. When my IM space is full, as a new message arrives, delete the oldest one to make room for it.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

When I log in to SL, seeing the message that arrived today is more valuable to me than seeing notices of the events I missed last month. This will be true for any SL users living in the present. It will not benefit those who are online in SL 24/7, but many of us have jobs and families and cannot get in even weekly.

It's a good idea, Bill. Unfortunately, it would lead to people sending IMs over and over again to be on top of the stack.
