Heya mzlady,
Please can you check that you are set to "Rear view" and not accidentally set to "Front view" - this can make it look as if your avatar is walking backwards when you are trying to walk forwards.
In the top menu bar, go to Me -> Camera Controls. In the Camera Controls window, open the preset views (1st button on the left at the bottom) and make sure you are set on "Rear View".
Does this fix your problem? If this does not help, please can you describe in more detail how to reproduce your problem - list the exact steps that you are doing that cause your avatar to walk backwards.
