Heya Beginning,
You said you were clicking on the "eye dropper" to open the colour palette and you said this also fails when trying to apply a colour to a box prim. Are you trying to open the colour palette by clicking the eye dropper tool in the texture picker here?
This eye dropper is for picking a texture to apply to a new prim face.
To open the colour palette, edit the object and go to the texture tab and left click on the small colour thumbnail here http://i.imgur.com/OEI7Ma8.jpg to open the colour palette.
Does that work for you?
I am unable to reproduce this problem on Second Life 3.7.24 (297623) Dec 19 2014 06:55:47 (Second Life Release) but I'm on a windows system , not a Mac. However you said you have the same problem on Firestorm viewer and I know this is not a bug for Mac on Firestorm so I suspect you may be trying to use the eye dropper tool to open the colour palette, which wont work.

Same here, tested with Second Life 3.7.24 (297623) on Mac OSX 10.10.2 and was able to pull up the color palette without any issues.

Hello Beginning,
Please let us know if your expected results are now different after Whirly's comments and whether or not you feel this is still a problem.
Thank you.

Our apologies, it appears this jira has been a victim of a spammer. We’re cleaning up the offending comments, sorry for the mess!
Steps to Reproduce
I was creating a new skin and later building a box. Each time I clicked on the eye dropper and nothing happened.
Actual Behavior
I tried to create a new blank skin and when I tried to tint it from the blank white the color palette wouldn't come up. I did the same with a box in the building screen. Still no color palette.
Expected Behavior
I was expecting the color selection palette to come up.
Other information
I attempted the same thing in the Firestorm viewer and found the same problem.
