What could have happened was your friend sent that IM while you were in a region that had a lag spike or while you were in the process of teleporting to or crossing into a new region. In such circumstances, the IM goes to email(if applicable) and you will get the IM on your next relog.

Dev says it may have been a fluke with one of hosts handling IMs. We weren't able to reproduce it on the server that RC Magnum was running at that time. But please do let us know if this is occurring again.

I just had this happen to me again. I logged in:

You are at 160.3, 70.7, 79.7 in Somani located at sim10566.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.52.72:13015) SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Somani/160/71/80 (global coordinates 464,544.0, 305,735.0, 79.7) Second Life Server 15.05.07.301703

and received [09:11:05] [Second Life: Incoming message from Nastaliandra Resident] [09:13:30] Joanne The Impaler (Joanne Furlough): are you online? [09:13:31] [Second Life: User not online - message will be stored and delivered later.]

This can also happen if the region you were in had capacities issues when that IM was received. It will be seen on the next relog.

No Lucia, in both cases of this I did not receive an IM. I did not receive an offline IM in my email box, nor did I receive a message that was saved. However I did receive the announcement that I had an incoming message from a user who should be incapable of sending an incoming message.

I've had this happen too. I have a theory about what causes it, but my theory may be bollocks.

Are you using a TPV Joanne? Because as far as I can tell, the LL does not notify you in IM when an avatar opens a new IM session to you and begins to type. On the LL viewer the IM window only opens when the first message is posted.

My theory:

This has only happened to me very very occasionally in the past but lately it has been happening more frequently, which makes me wonder if its related to SEC-1529 SEC-1529 isnt a security issue, it was only filed there because I posted full chat logs. SEC-1529 is "Avatars appearing offline to each other for a short period of time when in an IM conversation when neither avatar has changed regions during that conversation."

Hello Whirly. Yes, I'm using a TPV, Firestorm Viewer. What I'm experiencing is
