Can you please try deleting all previous versions of Second Life and doing a clean install? Does this resolve your issue?

Also, please be aware that if you're running Mac 10.6 (which we no longer support https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US) you will need to use the following build http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.7.28.300847

QueenElsa, you will still be able to use this viewer version to login to Second Life until you can get updated to at least mac 10.7: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.7.28.300847
