[BUG-9893] Profile Blanks out after a quick glimpse #17332

Open sl-service-account opened 11 years ago

sl-service-account commented 11 years ago

Steps to Reproduce

Examining a resident's profile.

Actual Behavior

A resident profile appears in the profile window and is immediately replaced with a solid dark UI frame color/background.

Expected Behavior

The profile should stay

Other information

This appears to be a mainline viewer bug, even if I am now reporting it from the CHUI project viewer. This seems to be a mac webkit thing.

This is not a CHUI bug. CHUI has nothing to do with profiles. Also, i can't repro on

Heya Coral,

Does the same thing happen when you use Search? Are you able to view inworld media? eg) Media on a prim, youtube videos (Flash media) and quicktime media?

Make sure that you have Enable Plugins, Accept Cookies and Enable Javascript ticked under Me -> Preferences -> Setup

Have you rebooted your Mac since this issue started? Sometimes slplugin can stay running after the viewer is closed and until the stary slplugin process is terminated, webkit can be flakey. (Though this tends to happen more on Windows then Mac) You can check if you have any stray slplugins left running when logged out under Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor. You can either end the process or reboot the Mac.

All checked, rebooted, still happens. I see the profile for one frame or two, then it gets replaced by the charcoal blank.

I am able to play inworld media.

Interesting: I see this in the console app:

3/25/13 10:22:28.000 PM kernel[0]: Data/Stack execution not permitted: SLPlugin[pid 331] at virtual address 0xf60a000, protections were read-write

After that line in console, do you have something like... "ReportCrash: Saved crash report for xxxx to yyyy"?

If so, can you paste that crash report?

Did this problem happen to start for you after an update to Mountain Lion?

SecondLife logs indicate SLPlugin exited very quickly:

2013-03-26T05:43:26Z INFO: LLProcess::LLProcess: SLPlugin (271): launched cd "/Applications/Second Life Viewer.app/Contents/Resources/llplugin": "/Applications/Second Life Viewer.app/Contents/Resources/SLPlugin.app/Contents/MacOS/SLPlugin" 50025 2013-03-26T05:43:27Z WARNING: LLPluginProcessParent::pluginLockedUpOrQuit: child exited 2013-03-26T05:43:27Z INFO: LLPluginMessagePipe::pumpInput: Got EOF from plugin socket.

I bought this machine with Mountain Lion. Google search seems to indicate this occurring for several other apps on Mountain Lion...

Crash report log is empty, which isn't surprising, the viewer didn't crash, just the plugin.

Some sites recommended running "sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force" and reboot. It didn't work for this.

Yeah, I saw those same reports for Mountain-Lion when I had a google for the "protections were read-write" error.

I'm afraid I have no idea how to fix this. I'm not a Mac user. The only thing I can think of is do you have the most recent versions of Flash and quicktime installed?

I had this same issue and was fooling around with it for a few hours. iMac running MacOS 10.10.3 It seems to stop if I set BrowserPluginsEnabled = FALSE.

Thanks Gando! Setting BrowserPluginsEnabled to FALSE is also working for Mac users on Firestorm who have this same bug.
